Beaches

Beaches on St. Martin and Sint Maarten offer a tropical paradise with soft sands, endless water that seems to glow blue, and unique cultural experiences that make for a fairy-tale holiday. St Maarten/St Martin is an island in the Caribbean Sea and the inhabitants are proud of their nation’s location. Annual Festivals and events, such as the Heineken Regatta and the SXM Festival both held in March, are popular events that attract many international visitors. The spring Carnival is a big St Maarten holiday, and is celebrated simultaneously on both sides of the island. It is worth stepping over to the both sides at this time to take a look at the differences in celebration, albeit both sides party in true Caribbean style.

Casual attire is usually permitted, though some nightclubs require shirts with sleeves and no bare feet.

There are at this time thirteen casinos on the Dutch side of the island, but none on French St. Martin. Some of the larger resorts offer their own gaming facility, but there are also several stand-alone casinos. Many of them offer all table games, but a few specialize in the latest slot machines.
